I grew up in a small Texas town, spending my days with friends, doing homework, and playing with my dolls—usually imagining stories long before I ever thought of myself as a writer.

As I got older, I started noticing boys… and they noticed me too—mostly because I was a tomboy with a strong competitive streak. I learned early on that life, like relationships, often requires a little balance. Sometimes you push forward, and sometimes you let someone else take the lead.

I began writing in high school, though I didn’t yet know where it might take me. In college, I discovered I had a real love for creative writing—but life had other plans. I got married, started a family, and set my writing dreams aside for a while.

For the next twenty years, I told stories in a different way—making them up for my children, writing a few children’s books, and learning firsthand what it means to build a home, raise a family, and juggle all the responsibilities that come with adult life.

Eventually, I found my way back to writing and decided to publish romance novels—and I’m so glad I did. Romance has always mattered to me, not just on the page, but in real life: the romance of connection, of everyday moments, of creating something meaningful.

Now, as I step into a new season, my writing is evolving again. Along with romance, I’m beginning a new series focused on women who are just starting out—or starting over. Women navigating new homes, new families, new routines, and new expectations.

This shift was inspired by watching my own children struggle with “adulting” and realizing that while there is more information available than ever, there’s less hands-on teaching and passing down of everyday wisdom. Life has gotten busy, and so much learning is left to trial and error.

I remember how, when I was young, I searched for books on keeping a house, planning meals, preparing for pregnancy, and doing life well. Today’s young women care deeply about their health, their well-being, and their future—and I want to offer encouragement, perspective, and practical support rooted in experience.

I still believe in romance. I still write it. But I’m no longer interested in forcing myself into trends or writing anything that doesn’t feel true to who I am. I’d rather be authentic than successful by someone else’s definition.
